EMDR Intensives

  • How long are EMDR Intensives?

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Intensives are extended sessions lasting 3-8 hours over consecutive days that allow clients to focus on trauma recovery without the time restraints of traditional hour long sessions.

  • Who is an EMDR intensive for?

EMDR Intensives are great for those who are already in traditional weekly/bi-monthly therapy, who are looking for EMDR intensive work as an adjunct to their current therapy. Many folks add on EMDR intensives to do focused work based on what they and their regular therapist have decided would be helpful. Our EMDR Intensive therapists enjoy collaborating with your regular therapist to make the intensive sessions the most custom to your goals.

  • What is the difference between traditional therapy vs. Intensives

EMDR intensives may also be right for those who do not have time to attend therapy on a regular basis. You might find it helpful to do 1-2 EMDR intensives per month, 3-4 intensives every 3 months--or some other version of an intensive! The frequency will depend on your unique symptoms, history and goals. Your EMDR intensive therapist will conduct a full intake to assess what frequency would make sense for you.

  • Some Facts about EMDR Intensives

Therapists practicing through an intensive format do not skip any of the EMDR phases.

EMDR Phases 1-2, history taking and preparation, are all about assessing your readiness for EMDR, learning about your history/symptoms, teaching you about your nervous system and helping you learn how to regulate your nervous system through coping skills. We do not move on to trauma reprocessing until phases 1-2 are sufficiently complete.

  • What are the Intensive Therapy Costs?

Intensive Therapy sessions are billed at $200 per hour. The total cost of an Intensive Therapy session will depend on the hours agreed upon during consultation. Below is a sample cost breakdown:

    3-4 hour Intensive: $600 - $800

     6-8 hour Intensive: $1,200 - $1,600

EMDR Intensives are not covered by Insurances but can potentially be less than out of pocket cost spent on co-pays for a year of therapy.
